sterday was the first of our Athletics Carnival days, with selected students from Years 1 to 6 competing in Ball Throw, Long Jump and Triple Jump. It was great to see these children showing determination, good sportsmanship and great skill as they navigated their way through these events.

With so many events happening in our world today that impact us in different ways, it is important as parents that we have the skills to be able to support our children and their responses. While we would love to protect our children from the negative things that are happening around them, in reality it is impossible, as news coverage is so widespread.

For the last three days, Nicolle Achmad and myself were fortunate to spend some time with Bishop Gerard Holohan in reflecting on how within our school we are expressing our Catholic Identity. Things such as prayer, understanding the Liturgy, having symbols and icons easily seen within the school and developing strong relationships were discussed.

Yesterday we began our Lenten journey for 2019 with the celebration of Ash Wednesday. Led by our Year 5 class, we were reminded of the importance of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We had our foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross symbolising that the person belongs to Jesus Christ, who died on a cross. Father Mat reminded us to talk to God more regularly through Prayer, sharing our thoughts, our challenges, our successes and failures.
