Yesterday morning, the Year 4 students led us through a very reverent liturgy reflecting on Lent and the lead up to Easter. Thank you to the students for participating so reverently and prayerfully.

Last Friday, we held our Faction Athletics Carnival and what an incredible day it was! The sportsmanship, friendly competition and determination displayed by our students were truly commendable. A huge thank you to all the parents, grandparents and family members who volunteered their time to assist with judging, marshalling, scoring, cooking burgers and making lunches and cheering on the students. These events simply wouldn’t be possible without your support!

We are on the cusp of an exciting new technological revolution, with rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation reshaping the way we learn, work and communicate. As educators, we recognise the importance of integrating technology into the curriculum to equip our students with the skills they need to thrive in this ever-evolving world.

Our Clubs program started today for our Year 3 to 6 students. This program runs between recess and lunch and allows the children to develop knowledge and skills in an area of their choice, which traditionally falls outside the curriculum. We believe it is important to develop the whole child at St Thomas More, so as a result, these children will be able to participate in activities including Surfing, Mountain Biking, Skateboarding, Bushwalking, Dancing, Games, Arts and Crafts and Gardening. The program will run for 4 weeks finishing on Thursday 3rd April. The Year 3 to 6 students are invited to wear their sport’s uniform on a Thursday for these 4 weeks.

Yesterday, the school community gathered with parents and parishioners to celebrate the beginning of Lent with an Ash Wednesday Mass. The Year 5 students led us beautifully and it was wonderful to see the students participate so reverently and prayerfully. Fr Mat spoke to the children about showing kindness and giving up something for Lent.

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our parents, carers and grandparents to join with us as a Catholic school community to celebrate the Eucharist and receive the Ashes on Ash Wednesday, 5 March at 9.00am. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a time of repentance and renewal, of prayer and reflection, of seeking to renew and restore our relationship with Jesus and of striving to follow more closely in His footsteps.

Thank you to all the parents who came along to our Parent Information evening on Monday night. We hope this was an informative and worthwhile opportunity to find out about what will be happening over the course of the year in the classroom and allow the opportunity for questions to be answered. I encourage those parents who were unable to attend this night to make contact with your child’s teacher to find out any important information that was discussed.

It was fantastic to see so many parents come along and meet other new and existing parents at the Morning Tea yesterday morning. Many thanks to all the parents who supplied some food and those P&F members who stayed to welcome these new families. It was a wonderful way to continue to build the great community we have here at St Thomas More!

Welcome back to the 2025 school year!

It was really wonderful to welcome our students and families back yesterday morning and hear about the fantastic things that had happened over the Summer holidays. The children seemed calm and ready to get on with having an awesome year. They also had a great time playing on their new playground and hardcourt!

As the school year comes to a close, it’s a perfect time to reflect on all we have achieved and accomplished. I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude, especially towards our incredible community. The collaboration between our school and parent community has been fantastic, making this the best school for our students.
